Textile Artist, Embroiderer & Upcycler

Katie Errington Davies has been a professional crafter and seamstress for the past 14 years, having been mostly known for her unique art bags which have been sold and displayed in locations all over the UK. In 2014 she collaborated with Saatchi and Saatchi on a marketing campaign to create unique purses for a Mr Kipling competition which received national coverage.

A career break in 2015 prompted a change of direction into textile art. Katie creates pieces based on torn and broken textiles which she mends using sashiko stitching. She then uses the mended textile as a prompt to create embroidery pieces on the subject of trauma and healing. Her current work is focused on parenthood and birth in particular, but also on maternal mental health and the celebration of scars. Playful floral prints stand in stark contrast to raw emotional imagery.

Katie lives and works in Acton Burnell, just outside Shrewsbury with her husband and two young children. More examples of her recent work can be found @k.errington.davies
