As a local artist based in Shrewsbury, I work mainly with watercolour. I am inspired by small natural forms, whether that is the detailed centre of a single flower, a close up of an acorn in its cup or the crystalised chambers of a fossilised ammonite. I’m drawn to the beautiful intricacy of their structures and infinite colour combinations. I am also a keen gardener and where possible work from real life.
I originally studied Art and Education at Exeter University and subsequently taught Primary Education for almost 30 years. Teaching art to children has always been a particular pleasure but a recent major operation, and a ‘Get Well’ gift of a tin of watercolour paints and I rediscovered a huge joy in creating my own art.
I look forward to seeing where this new journey takes me and hope my ‘Snippets of Nature’ bring a little joy to others as well.
