My artwork is mainly inspired by travel and nature. I make sketches and doodles of the places I visit such as the Temples of Angkor in Cambodia, the streets of Barcelona or a Sunday morning walk in the Shropshire hills. Sometimes I am inspired by the overall landscape and sometimes I like the smaller details - a shell on the beach, an intricately carved doorway or an interesting texture. I develop my sketchbook work into larger scale pieces using a variety of media and processes including free machine embroidery, printing, collage, batik, drawing and painting.
I studied textile design in Cardiff before embarking on a career as an art teacher based down in Bournemouth. I moved to Shropshire in 2014 and have been inspired by the natural beauty and sense of history. I currently teach well-being art sessions for Headway Shropshire. I run art workshops as well as creating and selling my own art work. If you would like more information please get in touch.
